Here are some tricks and tips to get rid of dry skin.  Especially the skin on your face is more sensitive than the rest of your skin, so it can dry out faster. Our helpful tips and techniques will help you to say good bye your dry skin for good.
  • You have to stay away from hot temperatures as heat is the natural source of exfoliation. Hot water helps you to remove dead cells of skin but it also removes the natural oils of your body. Take small showers over baths.
  • Apply moisturizing lotion after taking bath or after washing your hands or face. Use emollients or ointments moisturizers quite a few times a day as they are vital in dry skin treatment. Moisturizers make the skin smoother and softer and protect the damaged and sensitive skin. They limit the dehydration by sealing and trapping water. Always select a non-alcohol-based moisturizer.
  • During the winter and in dry and cold weather, use a humidifier in your home or add it to the central heating system in order to maintain the air moisturized. Wear hats, scarves and gloves in the winter. You can also use a naturally humidifying plant as an alternative, near your radiator, like a bamboo fern, Boston palm, or Ficus alii.
  • Try to use mild non-soap facial cleansers. Harsh body soaps take away the natural oils from the surface of the skin and dry it out. Also avoid anti bacterial soaps and cleansers with added fragrances as these soaps contain alcohol which may cause severe dryness for your skin.
  • Never try to rub a dry towel over your skin after washing your hands, face or even after taking a bath. Instead, softly pat your face dry with a dry, smooth and soft towel.
  • In hot season, you should splash cold water on your face to cool the skin down. The humidity in the air will helps your skin retain its natural moisture, but by using cold water you will be able to keep even more moisture.
  • Apply sunscreen to protect your skin from UV rays while going outside. Sun damage is one of the main causes behind most skin problems together with dry skin on your face.
  • Milk works as a natural moisturizer and cleanser as it contains the lactic acid which is helpful in reducing redness and dead skin. So it is good to wash your skin with milk.
  • Avoid drinks like alcohol and caffeine, which can dehydrate more water out of your system than you take in. Drink 8-oz glasses of water all day to keep your body hydrated.
  • Dry skin is more sensitive to contact irritants and it may get worse itching and redness. Stay away from itchy clothing because it might get itchier.
